The Hamlet Foundation
Est 1954

The Hamlet Foundation is an NPO founded in 1954. We have grown and developed to include a school for 270 intellectually disabled children, a residential center for 54-60 intellectually disabled adults and a protective workshop for 200 intellectually disabled adult workers.

Adult Residential Centre

The Residential Centre is our home away from home.

The Hamlet Protective Workshop

The Workshop is for adults with disabilities from the ages of 18years and above.

Hydroponic Tunnels

Our tunnels are used to grow vegetables that are used in preparing meals for our beneficiaries.

Stimulation Centre

The Stimulation Centre was created for the individuals who are not able to work in The Workshop.

The Hamlet School

CAPS curriculum for disabled learners, teaching is focused on learning life skills and aiding integration into society.

Key Objectives

  • To network and collaborate in partnership with our clients, the community, government, other service organisations, and with commerce and industry.
  • To be proactive in order to ensure that our service delivery is integrated, equitable, preventative, and developmental.
  • To deliver or source services for vulnerable groups in society i.e children, youth, families, communities, women, and older persons, focusing on special development areas i.e HIV/AIDS, poverty alleviation, crime prevention, substance abuse, survivor support and development, disability, and special protection.
  • To sustain a strong spirit of teamwork through a dedicated and loyal employee family.

Mission

To be a self-reliant foundation in partnership with stakeholders offering integrated services for the upliftment and development of persons with intellectual disabilities, their families and the broader community.
