Alberton Wes Church donates winter supplies to The Hamlet Foundation

The Gereformeerde Kerk Alberton Wes congregation consolidated its church buildings and used the transition to launch a winter outreach program, donating coffee, food supplies and socks to The Hamlet Foundation in Regents Park on June 18.

A decision was made to sell the other two church buildings and to use the Alberton Wes church building going forward.

The congregation has been led by the new pastor couple, Ds Vickus and Louret van Jaarsveld, since January 2026.

Under their leadership, female church members met to decide where they could make a difference in the community.

The group resolved to support The Hamlet Foundation.

The idea was to collect winter essentials, including coffee, milk, sugar, rusks, muffin mixes, biscuits and cappuccinos for the colder months.

Every Sunday in May, members brought contributions to church. The response was strong.

“We were pleased and blessed with the support,” said Van Jaarsveld.

Socks for the drive were donated by Die Jonk van Gees, a group of congregants aged between 20 and 40 years old.

The group’s contribution added warmth to the winter collection.

“We are blessed beyond measure and wanted to bless The Hamlet Foundation,” the pastor continued.

The Gereformeerde Kerk Alberton Wes says it hopes the donation will bring comfort to beneficiaries of The Hamlet Foundation through winter.
